Pasqua Education Vision Statement

Self-determination in education is a recognized inherent right of First Nation people. Pasqua First Nation Chief and Council established Chief Paskwa Education Centre and its governing Pasqua Education Board to exercise this right.

Pasqua First Nation believes that education should be responsive to the academic, social, political and the economic realities of the community and the world and preparing its students with confidence and competence to assume productive and responsible roles in any society.

Its commitment to “Indian Control of Indian Education” is to create an environment that stimulates and enhances the total development of each individual student.

Education for Pasqua First Nation children is the co-operative effort of Pasqua First Nation Chief and Council, Pasqua Education Board, teachers, support staff, parents, guardians and community members.

A new program is being developed for the upcoming school year, 2006-2007; The Saulteaux Retention Program. Chief Paskwa Education Centre website is pending.

Pasqua First Nation Post-Secondary Student Support Program encourages and supports eligible membership to pursue higher levels of education. Pasqua First Nation continuously has an adult learning and training programs on the go.

Criteria: Pasqua First Nation Member
The student must have a complete Grade 12 (high school, Adult 12, ABE 12 or GED).
Program of studies must be a minimum 8 months or longer.
The student must enroll in a minimum of 12 credit hours per semester for full sponsorship. Otherwise considered part-time and eligible for tuition and books only.
Deadline Dates for all applications:
June 15th for Fall semesters
November 30th for Winter Semesters

The Pasqua First Nation Education Board is the governing body under the direction of the Chief and Council. The Education & Employment Manager administers the program and reports to the Education Board. Applications will be mailed at the individual’s request and can be obtained by contacting the Education & Employment Manager at the Band office: 1-888-820-2202.


Stay in School Coordinator

The Stay-in-School Coordinator is responsible for the coordination and delivery of the Elementary School program at Fort Qu’Appelle and the Chief Paskwa Education Centre and Secondary School Programs. The objective is to encourage and promote students to stay in school to complete their education to qualify for careers or further advancement to trades, technical, professional and post secondary training.
